The organization was established in 1999 with the primary objective of educating and rehabilitating disabled children. It began by identifying disabled children in both government and private schools across Malur taluk of Kolar district, providing them with education and rehabilitation services. Recognizing the challenges faced by severely handicapped, especially mentally retarded children, in regular schools, the organization initiated a free residential special school for mentally retarded children in Malur. Over time, the organization has expanded its social activities with support from state and central governments to empower and uplift disabled children, women, elderly individuals, orphans, and marginalized communities neglected by society.
An integrated approach to build a equitable and empowered society
OUR VISION
Our vision is to establish a vocational rehabilitation center for mentally challenged children, providing medical care, vocational training, and recreational activities to nurture their holistic development and integration into society through self-employment opportunities.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to eradicate disabilities through transformative programs, produce beneficial resources, and establish specialized institutions for vocational and educational training. We promote self-employment and support disabled children's education through scholarships for skill development.
Provision has been made to provide midday meals (afternoon lunch) for around 9,500 children attending government and aided schools in Hoskote, Bangalore Rural District. This program, known as Akshara Dasoha (Midday Meal), ensures that these children receive daily nourishment during school hours.
The society is establishing a special school for mentally challenged children at White Garden, Arleri Road, Malur, Kolar District. This school will serve 75 children, providing them with valuable services. The organization has collaborated with the state government for this initiative. Additionally, the organization conducts annual medical assessment camps for the children enrolled in the school.
Nandadeepa has established open shelters as support facilities for vulnerable children in need of care and protection, including working children, ragpickers, street performers, orphans, children of migrant populations, and other vulnerable groups. Presently, 33 children are benefiting from this program, receiving free food, clothes, accommodations, and education.
At our home, we have 25 elderly citizens under our care, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who attend to their needs. We provide free food, medication, and accommodation to these individuals. A part-time doctor and nurse oversee their health, and in cases of serious medical issues, they are referred to a local hospital for further treatment. Additionally, we have a social worker available to accompany them to the hospital and provide counseling when needed.
It is the small change that makes the biggest impact.
We have rescued 25 women and 3 children from human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
